Aden and Kazuo trap a disgruntled Philip in the dungeon.  Philip wakes to realize that he wasn't given a Hind's Blood dagger, just one of Tranns' daggers coated in Aden's blood.  Casey and her staff discover that the formula they normally use to suppress Philip Dragmire won't work because it's designed to counteract Ebene toxin.  There's no trace of the toxin in Philip's system.  Adriana and Aden realize that half of Philip Dragmire was in each of their brains and when they were brought together, the consciousness was released.  Luckily, Casey has found a potion that will suppress Dragmire.  Unfortunately, they don't have all the solvants.

Down in the basement, Ariadne steals Aden's keys.  She reveals herself to Philip as a twisted form of herself, explaining that Ariadne and Philip's consciousness have become connected due to the Oomox accident last spring.  She offers him a plan to kill Adriana by using Kit's mother as a hostage and when Philip agrees to her plan, she lets him out of the cage and together they head off for Sybok.  Meanwhile, Tranns returns from a trip to Sybok, having deposited one of her daggers with Kit.

Phil and Airy take over the strangely vacant Tin Roof, sending Kit with a message for the Phoenix Fighters.  She is to tell Adriana exactly what's happened.  In the meantime, Ariadne seemingly beats Kit's mother, but has no idea as to the location of the real Hind's Blood dagger, supposedly in Sybok.  Philip becomes suspicious, but goes along with her plan of fortifying the tavern for the arrival of the Phoenix Fighters.

Back in the House, Aden and Adriana prepare to do battle with Dragmire again.  Although initially planning to venture to the Tin Roof alone and hit him with Casey's new potion somehow, Aden realizes what they need to do is use his supply of Light Arrows.  After Kit arrives, a meeting is called and Aden asks for volunteers to shoot the arrows in an ambush.  Michael and Sic both decide to help out.

Aden, Adriana, Michael, and Sic set out for the Tin Roof.  When they arrive, Philip is waiting for them, armed with another one of Tranns' fake Hind's Blood daggers.  Adriana and Philip confront each other just as Michael and Sic ambush him with a shower of Light Arrows.  Before Dragmire can be completely dissolved, however, Philip manages to poison Adriana with some Hind's Blood from a hidden supply his mother left him.

Desperate for a way to save Adriana, Ariadne, who was only pretending to turn evil in order to get Philip out of the House, sends Michael and Sic to the village for an Ebene soldier on patrol.  They bring him back alive and Ariadne coaxes Adriana into stabbing him in the heart.  With the loss of her blood innocence, Adriana is temporarily made mortal, due to a provision by the Hylian gods stating that any immortal who kills for the first time must suffer in mortality to gain a better appreciation for life.  The poison is voided out and Adriana returns to health.
